Made for ash, used for more. Holds silence, smoke, and whatever else you leave behind.

Originally designed as an ash bucket — but we won’t tell you how to use it. Survives on windswept cliffs, settles into sculpted interiors.

Galvanized interior with a treated exterior, finished using linseed oil and ash pigment. Approximately sixty to seventy individual steps go into the making, primarily using hammers, mallets, pliers, and shears.

A traditional bead roller has been used to expand and stiffen the bucket — a balance between the hammer’s character and the time it would take to bead by hand.

The sides and bottom of the bucket are joined using a seam made with steel hammer and a grooving iron. The handle bracket and shield are attached using domed rivets, each one hammered and shaped individually with hammer and rivet iron, making no two rivets alike.

The bucket’s shield and bracket are reinforced with a strip of either copper or galvanized sheet metal, which also contributes significantly to the bucket’s overall character and tactile feel.

The surface is brushed and cleaned of oils and dirt before being worked over with linseed oil. It is then left to oxidize for at least two days before the first layer of linseed oil and ash is applied. After a minimum of four days, a third layer is worked in, ending with the same process but using a final coating of linseed wax.

Each piece is stamped with a unique number on the bottom.
